Workshops
This short weekend course is designed for art beginners and those new to the medium, and includes tips on how to develop a creative practice. Spend a weekend with Dorian learning some basic techniques, drinking tea, and enjoy spending company with other new artists and taking some time for yourself.
We'll tackle such things as:
- Getting past the potential dread of a blank page.
- Colour theory basics and setting up a paint palette.
- How to critique your own work without judging yourself out of something you enjoy.
- Getting from reference image to page. (No AI!)
- Basic brush techniques.
All supplies are provided, as well as drinks and snacks for both days - though bring your own lunch!
Next workshop is 30th - 31st August 2025.
Deadline for bookings/payment is 22nd August.

PRICES
To keep these workshops accessible I have a tiered pricing structure.
Standard Price | $185 |
Pay it Forward | $250 |
Subsidised Price (limited numbers) | $40 |
Fees help pay for art supplies, venue hire cost, compensating me for my time, and other costs involved with organising and running a workshop like this. Thanks to funding from HCC Creative Communities - the current standard price is slightly subsidised and we're able to offer two places with heavily subsidised price costs.
